Come to our drop-in Open Day to find out all about this exciting new course
As Year 11’s start finalising their next step choices for moving into post-16 education, we are proud to announce the launch of an exciting new opportunity: the T Level qualification in Education & Early Years.
We’re hosting a Drop-in Open Day for young people and parents on Thursday 23rd May 2024. Register now to come along and learn more about the new course. You’ll get the chance to speak to our tutors and find out how this qualification will be your first step towards a career in Childcare.
Aimed at individuals with a passion for nurturing and educating young minds, the two-year course will equip students with the skills needed for a career in today’s childcare sector.
But what exactly are T Levels, why should you consider them, and how is it different from our previous CACHE Level 3 Childcare course?

T Levels are new technical qualifications designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the workplace. They’ve been designed alongside businesses and industry to ensure the skills are relevant to the workplace, giving employers confidence in recruiting people holding the qualification. What’s not changed from our previous course is the blend of classroom learning and industry placements. Discovery College works alongside nurseries, schools and other childcare providers across Plymouth to give students on the course the best possible placement opportunities. This bridges the gap between education and employment, equipping learners with real-world experience where they can apply the knowledge they’ve learned on the course and gain new skills.
With a minimum of nine weeks spent working within a placement (or 21 weeks for those opting for the Early Years Educator specialisation), students will gain invaluable practical skills and build connections that can propel them toward their future career.

The Level 3 T Level course at Discovery College is two years long. In that time students will delve into the core principles of child development, safeguarding, and supporting children’s education. From understanding behaviour to working with families and agencies, the curriculum covers all aspects of the education and early years sector, preparing students for a variety of rewarding career paths.
So, what can you do with a T Level in Childcare from Discovery College? From roles as nursery workers and teaching assistants to learning mentors and playworkers, graduates of this programme are well-equipped for a range of exciting career opportunities. Furthermore, for those seeking to further their education, our T Level serves as a solid foundation for higher-level apprenticeships or degree courses in related fields.

If you’re leaving Year 11 and considering your options for September, why not explore the world of childcare with Discovery College?
