Life After Discovery – Alumni

We’re proud of the success of our students who graduate from Discovery College. Here’s a selection of what some of them are doing now and how Discovery College helped get them there.

Dan Johns

Now: Football Academy Director,
San Antonio, Texas, USA

Things turned around when I enrolled on the BTEC Sports course at Discovery College. They made me feel better as a person; and make me determined to get somewhere in life. I struggled at school but here I complete the course with Distinction / Merit. With this I managed to get a scholarship in the USA and now I’m there realising my dream as a football coach.

Hannah Taylor

Now: Childcare Centre Manager

My tutors supported me greatly and helped my learning at Discovery College. I attended the College 2 days a week attended school 1 day, and a placement 2 days. Without my Tutors ad Discovery College by my side I’d never have the qualification to be where I am now, and for that I owe them a lot. I really reccomend Discovery for anyone looking to get into childcare.

Emma Drew

Now: British Army & International Athlete

College helped me achieve my dream of traveling, and challenging myself. Doing Public Services gave me the qualification and discipline to join the British army and keep myself fit. From my experience in the Army I was able to get into the sport of Biathlon. This led to me being being a full-time athlete and going on to represent Great Britain in world class competitions.

Emma Taylor

Now: Youth Worker

Discovery College was very flexible for me, enabling to change courses when I was deciding what career path to take. Through a work placement I became passionate about helping young people with additional needs, and studying Health & Social care gave me the skills me to persue this passion. I’ve now started my career thanks to Discovery.

Shannon Mcdonnell

Discovery college was one of the best decisions I made in terms of education. it was a very beneficial experience for myself as I was able to learn in an environment where everyone was friendly and the staff were very supportive; They unlocked my potential and made me realise that I can achieve anything I set my mind to.

Lagi Tuima

My experience at Discovery College was nothing short of the best. The environment around the college is very much calm, relaxed and supportive. I enjoyed the practical side studying Sport the most, although the accademic side also really helped me in my University study. The support I got at Discovered also enabled me to balance the learning with my sporting career.

Tallulah Mcnab

Discovery helped me achieve a distinction – the staff saw me through some very tough times. They inspired me and gave me realistic goals and confidence to get there, which I did. Coming to discovery college I had no plans for the future but Discovery college really made the difference and now I’m studying Criminology. The course really helped me get to where I am today.

Tom King

My time at college was extremely enjoyable and very successful as well. I used the college as a stepping stone to get both my academic and physical levels up to the standards I knew I was capable of but didn’t achieve in school. My lecturers helped me to become the man I am today by treating me like an adult and helping me achieve me to achieve my goal of joining the Marines.

Gemma Lidstone

Now: Childcare Practitioner

I gained the knowledge and work experience that I still refer to now. I gained the confidence and training I needed. The two years training I did in Vocational gave me the knowledge and skills I needed and helped me through the next three years of my Academic Learning at University where I did a Degree in” Primary Education.” I am now in the role I wanted as a childcare practitioner.

Discovery College was a great experience for someone like me as I always wanted a career in the Public Services, and thought this course would help me get there. It turned out to be the right decision. The college was  a really fun and supportive environment and tutors were very easy to get along with. It was a very friendly environment with colleagues who I met on the course who I am still friends with now.
