Welcome to our new monthly feature, Student Spotlight, where we focus on a student to find out more about their life at Discovery College.
This month we caught up with a second-year student, Jordan!
Name
Jordan
What course are you studying?
Level 3 Childcare and I also do GCSE Maths
How often do you attend college?
3 days per week
What’s the best thing about your course?
The people on the course including the tutors – everyone is welcoming, nice and supportive.
Describe a challenge you have faced on the course and how you have overcome it?
My anxiety has been a challenge but it has improved a lot and I’m overcoming it thanks to the support available at college
Do you do any extracurricular activities at college?
I’m a Student Ambassador so I help out with events like school open events where I’ll talk to Year 11s about what we offer at Discovery College. I also help out with YMCA’s Y’s Group where we take elderly people on outings to help them socialise to combat loneliness and isolation.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Working with children in settings such as a nursery or school. I’m keeping my options open but I am looking to either go to university after Discovery College or go straight into an entry-level childcare job role.
